Email from Blizzard Entertainment
Mar 7th
I received an email from Blizzard last night. For anybody who doesn’t know, Blizzard is the company behind the Warcraft series of games (including World of Warcraft, on which Rise of the X-Syndicate is based). They’re also responsible for the development of the very well known and respected StarCraft game, that came out over 12 years ago this month, and is still being played by fans worldwide.
A little less than two years ago, Blizzard announced it was coming out with a sequel to the famous StarCraft game and I, like many others, was tickled pink at the promise of a sequel.
You see, I love the Warcraft universe that Blizzard has developed over the years, but StarCraft was the game that fully introduced me to what Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games could be. I was in highschool back when it came out, and we would commandeer the computer labs after school and play 8-player games late into the night. Truly an amazing experience.
And after 12 years, the game has been thrown back into my life, as the email I received last night invited me to participate in StarCraft 2′s beta testing!
I can’t tell you what I think of the game yet, partly because I havn’t played it yet (its downloading and installing at the moment) and partly because I’m not too sure how much I can say (the legal agreement was a tough read).
I’ll have a look and see what I can find, and if I can post my testing experiences and thoughts on Folaji.com, I most definitively will.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to fight aliens on a far away planet.
Marge: Oh, that sounds like a good movie!
Uhh… yes, yes… movie…
Spam No More
Apr 7th
Seems like only yesterday I was proudly posting that Folaji.com had received its first spam comment. Since then, however, spam on the site has increased to the point where I’ve been filtering through 30 to 40 spam comments per day to ensure any proper comments aren’t accidently deleted.
Because of this ridiculous amount of spam, I’ve changed the site’s settings so that only registered and logged in users may post comments, which has worked well so far (0 spam today!). As a result, anybody who wishes to participate in our ongoing conversations about DnD and Warcraft will be forced to register with the site. I didn’t want to do this, but the barrage of spam forced my hand. The good thing is registration is free and any information you provide will not be sold/shared with anyone.
Also, anybody thinking of creating an account should remember this warning: any new accounts created for the purpose of generating spam on Folaji.com will be deleted.
That is all.
There is no /rape in World of Warcraft
Jan 19th
Seeing as how everyone in our DnD group has now seen the “Tom et ses chums” videos, I think its only fair to post them on the site.
Tom et ses chums – Part 1
Tom et ses chums – Part 2
In retrospect, the video pretty much demonstrates the advantage tabletop RPG games have over computer based RPG games: storyline flexibility. As Grob told me earlier tonight, you can’t rape someone in games like World of Warcraft, Fallout 3 and Oblivion, yet in Dungeons & Dragons, anything is possible!
