The Paoleas Calendar

There are many calendars in the lands of Aethoros, used by an array of creatures and kingdoms. The most commonly used calendar is the Paoleas Calendar, created after the fall of Armanacus over 600 years ago.

The Paoleas Calendar is made up of 11 months that range between 30 and 32 days each. The months are all named after Paoleas’ most heroic soldiers, with the first month named after Paoleas himself. Together, the ten soldiers and Paoleas supposedly make up the small company that killed Armanacus at the end of the Ludisian War.

With a total of 339 days, the last 12 days of the Paoleas Calendar are not part of any month. These days are most commonly known as the 12 Days of Armanacus, a period of time that is most usually spent in repose and reflection with family and friends. A few small groups, however, have begun calling these days the month of Armana, and use the days to celebrate the end of the calendar year. Though such people are in the minority, their numbers are growing at a steady rate, to the point where the Kingdom of Tarra recently adopted the month of Armana as the official name for these 12 days.

The following is a Tarraneze Calendar Wheel, showing each month and the number of days per month.

Paoleas dates are usually written with the following template:

<day>th day for <month>, <year> A.P.

Where the year is the number of years since the fall of Armanacus, and A.P. stands for After Paoleas. The current DnD adventure War of the Soulhers began in the month of Loria, 637.
